Jazz is a fun, up-beat and energetic style of dance which has evolved over the years to include styles such as Broadway jazz, Commercial and Funk. Each class commences with a warm up, isolations, stretch and strengthening, technique, corner travelling progressions, and choreography. At ESA our jazz classes utilise both the CSTD Jazz Syllabus and the International Dance Technique (IDT) syllabus.
Tap is a fun and exciting class that focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancers feet. Our Tap classes incorporate both traditional and modern tap styles that encourage both musicality and co-ordination. Tap classes at ESA follow the CSTD Tap syllabus with the addition of some street tap exercises and combinations to enable the development of technique & style.
JFH (Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop) is an urban style choreography based class in which students learn a new choreography "combo" each week. Each class will bring a fresh, fun vibe and will vary in styles from commercial jazz, modern jazz and raw hip hop. For the most part of the year this class is taught by our FIFO Industry Teachers to allow students the opportunity to work with a variety of choreographers on their versatility, ability to pick up choreography and their ability to adapt to the varying styles of urban & commercial dance.
Hip Hop is an incredibly popular urban dance style that appeals to many students, both boys and girls, who enjoy expressing themselves in a fun environment to modern music. Hip hop includes many elements such as popping/ locking, breakdance, waving, tutting, choreography and more! At ESA our students are able to work on these hip hop techniques in our Mini Petite & Junior Hip Hop Classes before moving into our JFH classes from Intermediate age. Our Hip Hop teachers are leaders in their field and provide inspiring tuition to students.
CONTEPORARY & LYRICAL
Contemporary & lyrical are fast growing favourites for 21st century dancers. Contemporary classes at ESA are a choreography based class in which students learn a new choreography "combo" each week while focusing on the ever evolving techniques & skills required to perform contemporary and lyrical styles of dance. For the most part of the year this class is taught by our FIFO Industry Teachers to allow students the opportunity to work with a variety of choreographers on their versatility, ability to pick up choreography and their ability to adapt to the varying styles of contemporary & lyrical dance.
Musical Theatre classes at ESA incorporate Singing, Dancing & Acting to allow our students to develop the skills required to be versatile performers. Musical Theatre classes will break their term into 2 x 4 week blocks where they will focus on a different Musical in each block!
At ESA we are excited to be able to offer our students the opportunity to train in aerial arts, an increasingly popular addition to shows and performances across the globe! Our beginner level aerial classes incorporate aerial silks & aerial hoop. In our more advanced levels students will work with silks, hoop, triple trapeze, aerial cube, aerial net and more! Students will commence in a beginner level class and will follow specific progressions to develop the strength, flexibility and skills required to progress through each of our class levels. Aerial classes are available from the Petite age group right through to adults!
ESA is proud to be an Acrobatic Arts Certified studio offering classes in acrobatics for students aged 2 - 17. In addition to tumbling skills, acro classes assist in the development of strength, flexibility & balance. With a strong focus on safe & correct technique students will follow the appropriate progressions to master beginner skills such as cartwheels, roundoffs, hand stands, forward & backwards rolls, bridges and kickovers before progressing on to more advanced skills such as walkovers, aerials, handsprings, saults, partner skills, limbering & basic contortion. Acro classes at ESA provide a fun, safe & structured environment for students of all ages.
